Hiking Across Ireland

I expected rain while hiking around Ireland—BUT EVERY DAY?I guess that is why they call it the Emerald Isle. My family dropped me off in the town of Camp on their way to the Shannon Airport. We had just spent eight wonderful dry days touring Ireland together. Less than an hour after they dropped me off to begin hiking, it started to rain. It never did stop completely.I was hiking the Dingle Peninsula. I ended the first day about six miles short of the port town of Dingle. I stopped near the village of Annascaul and ate at a pub called, “The South Pole Inn.” The Inn was built by the well known Irish Antarctic explorer, Tom Crean. Crean was a well respected member of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s team. He is remembered for his heroic saving of Teddy Evan’s life, and his crossing of South Georgia with Shackleton during the Endurance rescue (Great adventure if you haven’t read it).
